A few months ago I came across the trailer for the documentary “Where The Yellowstone Goes”. Having been in Yellowstone last Summer I was intrigued. The trailer gave me a preview of a small group of Fly Fishermen taking a 600 mile trip down the Yellowstone River. I was impressed enough to send a message to our local independent film theater asking them to consider showing the documentary. I copied the director Hunter Weeks on the email and hoped for the best. After several weeks I had forgotten about my request until I received an email from Hunter saying that he would like to show a screening of his movie in our town (Rochester NY). Hunter asked if our Canandaigua Lake Chapter of Trout Unlimited would like to sponsor the documentary and promote it. After a few phone calls we were off and running.
I have been fortunate enough to have seen the movie and cannot wait to see it on the big screen at the Little Theatre. I was impressed how Hunter wove the story of their journey into some amazing cinematography and a wonderful soundtrack. It is also a movie with a serious message about how fragile and complicated our river systems are in the United States and how we need to do all we can to protect them.
So here we are a week away from the screening being shown for the first time in New York State. I encourage you to join us next Thursday night. Tickets are $10 online or at the door. We will have a raffle at the door. Proceeds from ticket sales and the raffle will go to the Canandaigua Lake Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Come on out enjoy this beautiful movie and raise some money so we can continue our local mission at Trout Unlimited. Hope to see you there.
