Fly Fisher’s Workshop is a fun one-day fly fishing event that provides informative workshops to promote fly fishing and broaden skills.  Entering the fourth year, it’s already one of the largest fly fishing events in Upstate New York!  We were just shy of 400 participants last time.  There are eight 50 minute workshop sessions on various topics for beginner to experienced fly fishers.  Multiple workshops are offered each session, so that participants choose based on their specific interests.   We cover everything from trout, bass, saltwater, fly tying, casting, rod building, bamboo rods, leaders, tying knots, destination trips, fish carving and more.  This year we have 30 different workshops or fly tying demos offered.  There are casting demonstrations, casting clinics for help, fly tying demos, fly fishing vendors, local guides, a 5 weight casting competition, door prizes, quality silent auction items and great raffle prizes for $1 and $2 tickets.  New this year are FFW stickers, hats, shirts and the presence of food trucks (Macarollin‘ & Tuscan Wood Fired Pizza).

General admission is $10 for adult, with youth (14 and under) free.  Gate proceeds benefit Seth Green Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Canandaigua Lake Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Upstate Fly Fishers.
Instructor and Sponsor Information:   Each space is equipped with Wi-Fi, a Digital Projector/Screen and there are a couple of loaner laptops available.  Instructors will receive a complimentary Food Truck lunch and FFW decal.   Email Craig ( if you need more info or have questions.

Craig Dennison

This is Craig and I host Fly Fisher's Workshop. My fly fishing experiences include plenty of travel (Montana/Florida/North Carolina/Maine) and a few years part time guiding for trout. While I primarily target trout and steelhead, I still manage to chase warm water species and enjoy chasing stripers and bluefish. I'm a 3rd generation fly fisher trying to share the passion with my two sons!
