Thanks to everyone who participated with Fly Fisher’s Workshop! Our 4th event was another success. There were 31 different workshops, 20 sponsors, 37 unique raffle prizes, quality silent auction items, 2 yummy food trucks, numerous fly tying demonstrations, and a fun – 5 weight casting competition. Between volunteers, sponsors and attendees, we had 260 participate in this years’ Fly Fisher’s Workshop. If it weren’t so unseasonably warm, attendance would have been greater. Blame it on the weather! Numerous anglers opted to fish with the 40 degree plus forecast. Nonetheless, those in attendance enjoyed the event and it was a good day to connect, share, learn and celebrate our NYS fisheries.
Now that a week has passed, donations are being distributed to both Trout Unlimited Chapter and Upstate Fly Fishers. Proceeds from the 2016 FFW have already donated $1,000. This makes the grand total over $5,000 that’s been raised since the first Fly Fisher’s Workshop. Hooray!
We live in an outstanding area for fishing. Upstate New York boasts superb anglers. Best of all, many of these anglers are willing to share their passion for fly fishing. Fly Fisher’s Workshop owes success to its’ volunteers and workshop instructors. I’m proud of our angling community and offer a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved. We’ll do it again in 2018 and remember to take a kid fishing!
